Copenhagen experiences what is later to be known as the Copenhagen Fire of 1728. The fire heightens public awareness of the need to insure oneself.

The oldest component of TrygVesta's history is the Danish insurance company Kjøbenhavns Brand. Kjøbenhavns Brand was established by Royal Decree as a consequence of the Copenhagen Fire of 1728.
