Local antiviolence efforts

The Night Owls is one of the most important projects in Norway to prevent violence and vandalism. Nights Owls are adult role models for children and young people in the local community. Their main objective is to enhance safety in the local community and indirectly to prevent violence and vandalism by being out in the streets where children and young people are in the evening.

 

Nights Owls are local organisations of voluntary social groups forming part of a national network. TrygVesta became the principal partner of the Night Owls in Norway in 1995. TrygVesta currently sponsors 500 groups and makes secretariat facilities available to them. The groups cooperate closely with local municipalities and the police.
