TrygVesta employees give Humanitarian Christmas present
Two million Danish kroner donated to Doctors Without Borders and SOS Children’s Villages. At a ceremony held at Vesta in Bergen, Norway on Monday, TrygVesta Group CEO Stine Bosse donated one million Danish kroner to each of Doctors Without Borders and SOS Children’s Villages.
The money had been given by TrygVesta to the company’s employees, who were free to use it at their discretion. TrygVesta’s employees elected to donate the money to humanitarian organisations which do a good job internationally.
A vote among all TrygVesta employees designated the two humanitarian organisations which work in Liberia and Gambia, respectively. In Monrovia, the capital of Liberia, Doctors Without Borders dispense medicine to women and children and treat diseases such as cholera, tuberculosis, malaria and bronchial infections. In Gambia, the donation is to be used to enable SOS Children’s Villages to continue to run their mother-child clinic, whose offers include family planning and first aid.
The two organisations were very happy to receive the gift. To quote Doctors Without Borders, "The number of times we have received a donation running into one million kroner can be counted on the fingers of one hand."
